These Amazing and easy tips will help you save money at the grocery store every single trip! Cook With a Shoe

1. Have enough money in the grocery envelope

This a huge trick to prevent overspending on groceries!

I used to overspend all the time until I gave myself permission to have enough money in my grocery budget to cover all the food we needed in a month and then save off of that amount.

How do I know what is enough grocery money?

Track how much you spend in a month on produce, meat, dairy, and canned/boxed etc at all the stores you go to and make this your grocery budget amount.

Now is just the time to see what you have been spending. You can work on saving money from that amount.

Having a base amount to ensure you have enough money for food for the month, even if you don’t save any other money, this will greatly help reduce your money stress and prevent overspending.

2. Stack coupons with sale items!

Stretch your dollar even further by using a coupon with an item on sale. Better yet, shop at stores that increase the value of the coupon (i.e. doubling the face value of the coupon) and use coupons with sale items.

There is nothing like a triple discount!

Over a period of 17 months, I saved $1,025.47 just by using coupons, with an additional $2,419.79 saved using loyalty cards and rebates resulting in $3,445.26. That is a lot of cash!

In fact one of my best shopping trips resulted in a 4 1/2  foot long receipt with the subtotal  of $151, before coupons. After I handed over my giant stack of coupons, the grand total of $33 completely amazed my husband, the cashier, and the person behind me in line. They were shocked!!
